# Contour Health review

Contour Health offers a free video consultation, continued access to the same provider and medication ordered by vial rather than automatic monthly refills.

## The verdict

Contour Health’s strongest distinction is continuity: its FAQ promises the same provider, a video visit to begin and direct contact during treatment. Its medication bill depends on dose and vial size. The public weekly estimates do not support a single standing monthly price.

Contour Health describes itself as provider-owned remote care for weight management and other treatments. Its team page identifies co-founder Melissa Musso as a family nurse practitioner overseeing clinical operations and Laarni Gonzales-Naval as medical director. These are the seller’s disclosed roles, not a guarantee that either will be your assigned clinician.

1. ## Who writes the prescription, and what do they see?

The first consultation is a Zoom video visit with a provider licensed in your state. Contour says the same provider remains involved throughout treatment. It does not require labs before starting, although an individual patient may need additional assessment. The FAQ lists 46 states, excluding Michigan, Mississippi, Kentucky and Arkansas.

After the initial video visit, most communication uses messaging, with follow-up video available on request. The stated usual response is within about 24 hours on weekdays. Contact the provider when roughly two weeks of medication remain: progress and the next vial size are reviewed before payment and reorder. This requires the patient to initiate refills rather than rely on an automatic shipment.

2. ## What happens when the dose goes up?

The provider adjusts the dose based on response and tolerability. Because medication is billed by vial, changing the prescribed amount can change both cost and how long a vial lasts. Ask for the amount in the vial, prescribed weekly dose and beyond-use instructions together; duration calculated from milligrams alone is not permission to use medication past its label date.

3. ## What the price includes

Consultations and ongoing provider support are included without a membership fee. The current page advertises weekly starting estimates, while another calculator shows a different semaglutide starting amount. Medication is sold by vial and its duration depends on dose. Obtain a written vial quote before paying instead of converting the website’s weekly estimate into a promised monthly bill.

4. ## What it claims, and what it cites

Contour uses compounded [semaglutide](https://thisglp.com/research/semaglutide-cochrane-review) and [tirzepatide](https://thisglp.com/research/tirzepatide-vs-semaglutide-which-works-better), which are not FDA-approved. It describes an accredited 503A pharmacy partner but does not name the dispenser in the treatment summary. Ask for the pharmacy identity, formulation and storage directions before accepting a prescription. The site’s accreditation claims are not evidence of FDA approval for the medication.

## Where it holds up, and where it does not

- Strength: Named clinical leadership
- Strength: Initial video visit and provider continuity described
- Strength: No weight-loss subscription or automatic refill
- Strength: Dose and refill reviewed before reorder
- Limitation: Vial price varies with the treatment plan
- Limitation: Weekly semaglutide estimates conflict across the page
- Limitation: Routine provider messaging is weekday-based
- Limitation: Four states excluded

## What the evidence says about this kind of treatment

The assessment above is about Contour Health. These are about the drugs it sells, and they are traced to the primary literature.

Right for

A patient who prefers a continuing clinician relationship and wants control over when a refill is ordered.

Wrong for

Someone needing one guaranteed monthly charge or automatic medication delivery.

## The evidence behind what Contour Health prescribes

These studies examine the medicines, not this provider. Results with approved products do not establish the quality or effectiveness of a seller’s compounded formulation.

- [Cochrane Review of Semaglutide for Obesity: 18 Trials Graded](https://thisglp.com/research/semaglutide-cochrane-review)

A 2025 Cochrane review pooled eighteen randomized trials. The weight figure is high certainty and smaller than the marketing, and almost everything else is graded lower.

- [Tirzepatide vs Semaglutide: Which Works Better for Weight Loss?](https://thisglp.com/research/tirzepatide-vs-semaglutide-which-works-better)

In a 72-week randomized trial at weight-management doses, weight fell 20.2 percent on tirzepatide and 13.7 percent on semaglutide. Routine-care studies found a smaller gap, three to four points.
