Read the timeline before the numbers. This trial ran 13 weeks [1]. Every approved drug figure on this site — the ones in the pooled weight-loss averages — comes from trials of 68 weeks or longer. A 14.7% result at three months and a 15% result at sixteen months are not the same claim, and setting them side by side is the single easiest way to mislead a reader about a pipeline drug.
With that established, the numbers are striking. Weight fell 9.2 kg at the 2.5 mg dose and 14.6 kg at 15 mg, against 1.8 kg on placebo. In proportional terms that is 9.1% and 14.7% against 1.7%. Losing at least 5% of body weight was achieved by 130 of 140 treated participants — 93% — against 4 of 34 on placebo.
VK2735 pairs GLP-1 with GIP, the same combination as tirzepatide, which makes it a competitor rather than a new mechanism. That distinguishes it from the glucagon pairing this site covered in the survodutide phase 3 result and from the amylin pairing in CagriSema. The pipeline is now several molecules deep on each of three mechanisms.
On tolerability, the adverse events were predominantly gastrointestinal and their reported frequency fell once titration reached steady state. None of this is purchasable. VK2735 completed a phase 2 study and has no approval anywhere. The reason to record it is that the pipeline determines what the market looks like in three years, and a drug that clears phase 2 cleanly is the kind that eventually changes what the approved options cost — the pipeline this site tracks in what is not for sale.
